About Us and Vision

Phende Shedrub Ling  Buddhist Center belongs to the Geluk lineage of Tibetan Buddhism.

The fundamental purpose of this Buddhist Center is to promote world peace and happiness for all beings. Moreover, people who attend the Center will be helped to achieve a meaningful and happy life now and obtain
enlightenment in the future. The Center will assist individuals in finding a complete, long lasting happiness through the practice of love, compassion, ethics, tolerance, forgiveness, and profound wisdom, as they learn and practice
the teachings of Buddha Shakyamuni. The Center will also promote religious harmony, and strive to preserve the unique and rich Tibetan culture.

This Center is dedicated to fulfilling the vision of the His Holiness the 14th Dalai Lama in his compassionate service to humanity.

Phende Shedrub Ling's Mission

The main mission of the Shedrub Ling  Buddhist Center is to provide teachings on Sutras and Tantras as taught by the Buddha in general; and specifically the five treaties of Buddhist philosophy, mind training, the Six Perfections and the Noble Eight fold paths, etc. All of these as taught by the Geluk tradition of Tibetan Buddhism, which is based on and influenced by the Tradition of the ancient Nalanda University of India. We, of course, respect all the lineages of Buddhism and all major religions of the world.

We offer workshops and teachings on weekends, and intensive series of courses to all levels of students from beginner to advanced practitioner. We also conduct teachings on general meditation techniques; such as, mindfulness meditation, calm abiding and insight meditation, deity visualization practices, as well as teachings on traditional Tibetan Buddhist chanting.

The Tibetan culture is very unique and rich and has inspired many peoples of the world. But, it is in a very critical situation facing extinction from this earth due to its destruction by the Chinese communist regime.  To preserve the Tibetan culture, we offer Tibetan language classes for all levels of students, and we are committed to translating Tibetan Buddhist literature and texts into English and other languages.

For the world to be a more peaceful and happy place, we are devoted to work for religious harmony through interfaith meetings and the establishment of an environment in which all communities become more friendly and helpful through the awareness of developing a compassionate mind and overcoming a selfish attitude. By fostering the strong feeling that all of us are brothers and sisters in one big family, we hope to prevent future world wars. We are dedicated to social work to support homeless people locally, as well as education, and to help provide healthcare to underprivileged refugee Tibetan children living in settlements in India.
